COURSE CURRICULUM

The MBA in Health Services and Risk Management (HSRM) curriculum at Metropolitan College of New York is organized into three purpose-based semesters, each carrying 12 credits, for a total of 36 credits. The program is designed to build a strong foundation in healthcare management while progressively developing advanced leadership and strategic skills. In the first purpose, students focus on core concepts such as healthcare policy and legal issues, healthcare marketing, healthcare operations, and managerial accounting. These courses provide essential knowledge of the healthcare system, including policy-making processes, legal responsibilities, marketing strategies, operational efficiency, and financial decision-making. Students gain an understanding of how healthcare organizations function and how to improve performance and service delivery.In the second purpose, the curriculum advances into more specialized and analytical areas. Students study healthcare risk and quality management, telehealth and digital health technology, healthcare data analytics and decision support, and managerial economics. This phase emphasizes the use of technology, data, and economic principles to enhance decision-making and improve healthcare outcomes. It also prepares students to manage risks, ensure quality standards, and adapt to emerging trends such as digital healthcare solutions.The final purpose focuses on leadership and global perspectives in healthcare management. Courses include healthcare project leadership, global business or international practicum, managerial finance, and a constructive action project in strategic healthcare industry management. This stage allows students to apply their knowledge in real-world or simulated settings, integrating strategic thinking, financial management, and leadership skills. Overall, the curriculum provides a comprehensive and practical education that prepares graduates for executive roles in the healthcare industry, equipping them with the ability to manage complex systems, lead teams, and make data-driven strategic decisions.
