COURSE CURRICULUM

The Information Technology and Systems (ITS) program provides students with a strong foundation in computing, networking, databases, and information systems, preparing them for careers that bridge technology and business. The program begins with 39 credits of foundation courses, including programming, software development, system design, database management, network technologies, and ITS project courses that emphasize hands-on, practical experience. Students then choose between two concentrations: Information Technology (IT) and Information Systems (IS). The IT concentration focuses on networking, internet security, system administration, technology entrepreneurship, and platform-specific technologies, along with upper-level electives to deepen technical expertise. The IS concentration emphasizes data and information management, decision support, and business intelligence systems, combined with elective courses to broaden knowledge in organizational information systems.The program also includes 14 credits in related fields, such as financial accounting, business principles, marketing, economics, statistics, and calculus, giving students the business and quantitative skills necessary to complement their technical training. Core and Liberal Studies requirements total 40 credits, covering first-year seminar, writing, philosophy, ethics, fine arts, history, literature, natural science, social science, and pathway courses that allow interdisciplinary exploration.Electives and/or internships of 4-7 credits allow students to apply their learning in real-world contexts or further specialize in areas of interest. Overall, the program requires 120 credits for graduation. ITS students develop a balance of technical, analytical, and business skills, making them well-prepared for careers in network administration, web and software development, data management, IT consulting, and other technology-driven roles. The curriculum’s combination of rigorous core courses, specialized concentrations, and practical experience equips graduates to adapt to the rapidly evolving landscape of information technology and systems in diverse organizational settings.
