COURSE CURRICULUM

The Information Technology and Systems (ITS) program provides a comprehensive foundation in computing, networking, databases, information systems, and business, preparing students for careers at the intersection of technology and organizational operations. The program begins with 39 credits of core ITS courses that cover programming, software development, systems analysis, networking, database management, hardware and software architecture, system design, and project-based learning through ITS Project I and II. After completing the foundation, students choose between two concentrations: Information Technology (IT) or Information Systems (IS). The IT concentration, totaling 20–23 credits, focuses on system administration, internet security, technology entrepreneurship, platform-specific technologies, and upper-level electives that allow students to explore enterprise computing, e-commerce, or data center technologies. The IS concentration, totaling 20–21 credits, emphasizes data and information management, decision support, business intelligence systems, and upper-level electives that bridge technical skills with business applications.Students also complete 14 credits of related field courses, including financial accounting, marketing, economics, business management, statistics, discrete mathematics, and calculus, to strengthen business and quantitative skills. Elective courses provide opportunities to further specialize in computing topics aligned with career goals. The program integrates a 40-credit Core and Liberal Studies curriculum, which includes a foundation in first-year seminar and college writing, distribution courses in philosophy, ethics, fine arts, history, literature, natural science, and social science, and a 12-credit pathway of interdisciplinary courses. Students may also select 4–7 credits of electives or internships to gain practical experience. Completion of the ITS program requires a total of 73–76 credits in the major and a total of 120 credits for graduation, ensuring graduates are well-prepared to manage, implement, and innovate in rapidly evolving technological and organizational environments.
