COURSE CURRICULUM

This four-year academic plan is designed to prepare students for graduate programs in healthcare fields such as physician’s assistant, physical therapy, nursing, and athletic training by combining strong foundational science courses with relevant supporting subjects. In the freshman year, students build a base in biology and chemistry through General Biology I and II and General Chemistry I and II with labs, along with foundational courses like First Year Seminar, Philosophical Perspectives, and Writing for College. Mathematics is introduced through statistics or calculus, and an introductory health professions course provides early exposure to healthcare careers.During the sophomore year, the focus shifts to human-focused sciences such as Anatomy and Physiology I and II, along with either Microbiology or Genetics. These courses are essential for understanding the human body and disease processes, which are critical for healthcare professions. Core subjects like history, technology, and psychology are also included to support a well-rounded education.In the junior year, students advance into Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry with laboratory components, along with upper-level biology courses. Ethics or bioethics is introduced to help students understand professional responsibilities in healthcare. Pathway courses, electives, and even internship opportunities provide practical experience and further academic flexibility.By the senior year, students complete advanced biology coursework, related field requirements, and core subjects such as art. The program culminates in a capping course, which integrates their knowledge and prepares them for graduate study or professional training. Overall, this curriculum balances rigorous science education with practical experience and liberal arts learning, ensuring students are well-prepared for competitive healthcare programs and future careers.
