COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Data Science and Analytics at Marist University is a rigorous and interdisciplinary program that combines computer science, mathematics, and data-focused coursework to prepare students for careers in data-driven fields. The major requires approximately 67–69 credits, beginning with foundational courses in programming, software development, database management, and algorithm design. Students then progress into specialized data science courses such as data analysis, data visualization, machine learning, and data mining and predictive analytics, developing the ability to extract insights from complex datasets. A capstone project allows students to apply their skills to real-world problems, demonstrating their readiness for professional roles.A strong mathematical foundation is a key component of the program, with required courses in calculus (I, II, and III), discrete mathematics, linear algebra, probability, and applied statistics. This ensures students are well-equipped for advanced analytical and computational tasks. Additionally, students choose two electives from a range of options such as artificial intelligence, business intelligence systems, differential equations, Bayesian analysis, and numerical analysis, allowing them to tailor their studies to specific interests.The program does not require additional related field courses but includes a comprehensive core/liberal studies component covering writing, ethics, arts, history, science, and social sciences to promote a well-rounded education. With a total of 120 credits required for graduation, including general electives or internships, the program emphasizes both theoretical knowledge and practical experience, preparing graduates for careers in data science, analytics, artificial intelligence, and related fields.
