COURSE CURRICULUM

This four-year study plan for the biology program is designed to provide students with a strong scientific foundation while allowing flexibility to explore diverse areas within the field. In the freshman year, students begin with core science courses such as General Biology I and II and General Chemistry I and II along with their laboratories. These are complemented by foundational courses like First Year Seminar, Philosophical Perspectives, and Writing for College, as well as mathematics through statistics or calculus, establishing essential academic and analytical skills.During the sophomore year, students move into more specialized biological topics such as Genetics and Plant Biology, along with additional upper-level biology courses. They also complete core requirements in technology, ethics, and social sciences, while continuing to take electives that allow them to explore personal interests. This year strengthens both subject knowledge and interdisciplinary understanding.In the junior year, the focus shifts toward advanced coursework and integration of related scientific fields. Students take Organic Chemistry and its laboratory, along with more upper-level biology courses and pathway requirements. Electives and related field courses provide additional opportunities to broaden expertise or prepare for specific career paths or graduate study.By the senior year, students complete advanced biology coursework and related field electives, further deepening their specialization. Core requirements in areas like art and literature ensure a well-rounded liberal arts education. The program culminates in a capping course, which integrates the knowledge and skills gained throughout the program and prepares students for professional careers or further academic pursuits. Overall, the curriculum balances foundational science, advanced study, and flexibility, supporting diverse career and educational goals.
