COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts in Economics at Marist University provides a balanced curriculum that combines theoretical knowledge with practical application, preparing students for careers in finance, policy, and research. The major requires approximately 37–38 credits, beginning with a strong theoretical foundation that includes courses in microeconomics, macroeconomics, intermediate economic theory, and econometrics. These courses equip students with the analytical tools needed to understand and evaluate economic systems and data.To complement this foundation, students complete four applied economics courses in areas such as environmental economics, labor economics, financial markets, economic development, public finance, behavioral economics, and international economics. This flexibility allows students to tailor their studies according to their interests and career goals. The program also includes a capstone course, where students conduct in-depth research, develop scholarly writing, and present their findings, integrating their economics knowledge with broader liberal arts perspectives.In addition, students must complete supporting coursework in statistics and calculus, which are essential for quantitative analysis in economics.
