COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry program offers a flexible and well-rounded curriculum that combines essential chemistry knowledge with a strong liberal arts foundation. The major requires 35 credits in chemistry, covering core subjects such as general chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, and computational chemistry, along with integrated laboratory courses that provide practical, hands-on experience. Students also study either thermodynamics or quantum mechanics, along with their corresponding experimental courses, allowing some flexibility in focusing on specific areas of interest. The program includes a research-based capping course that helps students develop independent research skills and apply their knowledge to real-world scientific problems. Additionally, students complete introductory biochemistry and its laboratory component, strengthening their understanding of the relationship between chemistry and biological systems.The program also requires 16 credits in related fields, including Calculus I and II and General Physics I and II with associated labs. These courses provide the mathematical and physical science background necessary to support advanced chemical study and problem-solving.
