COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Mechatronic Systems Engineering at Lawrence Technological University offers two degree paths designed to develop advanced skills in integrating mechanical, electronic, and computer systems. The program can be completed through the Coursework and Thesis option or the Coursework Only option, each totaling 30 credit hours. The Coursework and Thesis option includes seven core courses (21 credits) and a thesis (9 credits), while the Coursework Only option consists of the same seven core courses plus three elective courses (9 credits). The program emphasizes hands-on learning, problem-solving, and preparing students to lead in fields such as robotics, automation, and intelligent system design.The core curriculum consists of seven courses that provide a strong foundation in mechanical and mechatronic systems. Students begin with Engineering Analysis I, Mechanical Vibrations, and Advanced Dynamics to develop an understanding of system behavior and motion. Modern Control Systems and Digital Control Systems teach principles of feedback, stability, and control applicable to complex automated systems. The sequence concludes with Mechatronic Systems I and II, which integrate mechanical, electrical, and computational components, giving students practical experience in designing and implementing sophisticated mechatronic systems.Electives allow students to specialize according to their interests and career goals. Options include advanced courses in vehicle dynamics, autonomous vehicles, bioinspired robotics, aerospace systems, mechanical design of mechatronic robots, adaptive control, optimization, artificial intelligence, intelligent robotics using ROS, machine learning, and digital signal or image processing.
