COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Quality Engineering curriculum at Lawrence Technological University is designed to provide a comprehensive blend of core knowledge and specialized electives, equipping students to tackle advanced challenges in quality management and process optimization. The core courses, totaling 21 credit hours, build a strong foundation in key areas such as technometrics, Six Sigma methodologies, reliability and maintenance engineering, engineering project management, and the design and analysis of quality improvement experiments. These courses emphasize both theoretical understanding and practical application, ensuring students gain the technical proficiency necessary to improve systems, enhance product reliability, and implement efficient operational strategies. In addition, students explore advanced concepts in engineering quality management and special topics in technology, which foster innovation and adaptive problem-solving skills relevant to a wide range of industries. Complementing the core, the 9 credit hours of elective courses allow students to tailor their learning to specific professional goals or areas of interest. Electives cover subjects such as management information systems, lean manufacturing, manufacturing processes, supply chain management, production planning and control, manufacturing systems, computer-integrated manufacturing, manufacturing productivity, and product innovation and design. This flexibility ensures that graduates develop both breadth and depth of knowledge across quality engineering and related technological domains. Students also have the option to complete a master’s thesis in place of the electives, providing an opportunity for original research and practical contribution to the field.
