COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Computer Science (MSCS) curriculum at Lawrence Technological University is a flexible and advanced program designed to build strong theoretical foundations while allowing specialization in modern computing areas. The program begins with 9 credit hours of core courses, including Theory of Computation, Advanced Database Systems, and Algorithm Design and Analysis. These courses develop essential skills in problem-solving, data management, and computational theory, forming the backbone of advanced computer science knowledge. Students then complete 9 credit hours of general computer science electives, choosing from a wide range of 5000- and 6000-level courses, which allows them to tailor their learning to specific interests such as cybersecurity, data science, artificial intelligence, or software development.In addition, students take 6 credit hours of advanced or current topics courses, which focus on emerging technologies and cutting-edge developments in the field. These courses ensure that students stay updated with the latest trends and innovations in computer science. The program concludes with a choice between a research project or a master’s thesis, each worth 6 credits. In the research project option, students complete two collaborative research courses, applying their knowledge to practical problems. In the thesis option, students conduct in-depth research under faculty supervision and defend their findings.
