COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Civil Engineering (MSCE) curriculum at Lawrence Technological University offers flexible degree options designed to meet different career goals, whether students are interested in research, practical application, or a purely coursework-based path. The program provides three main options: thesis, project, and coursework-only. In the thesis option, students complete 24 credit hours of technical electives along with two thesis courses, Thesis I and Thesis II, each worth 3 credits, for a total of 30 credits. This pathway is ideal for students who want to engage in in-depth research, develop advanced analytical skills, and possibly pursue doctoral studies or research-oriented careers.In the project option, students also complete 24 credit hours of technical electives but replace the thesis with a 3-credit graduate project, resulting in a total of 30 credits. This option focuses more on practical, real-world problem-solving and is well-suited for those planning to enter or advance in industry roles. The coursework-only option requires 33 credit hours of technical electives, allowing students to fully concentrate on expanding their technical knowledge across various civil engineering disciplines without completing a thesis or project. Across all options, technical electives provide the flexibility to specialize in areas such as structural, environmental, transportation, geotechnical, construction, or water resources engineering.
