COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Architecture (M.Arch) curriculum at Lawrence Technological University is structured to provide advanced design, research, and professional training through a flexible and studio-focused approach. The program begins in the summer semester with foundational courses such as Design Build Studio and Research Methods, where students gain hands-on experience in construction-based design and learn how to conduct architectural research. This early exposure helps students understand the connection between theory, design, and real-world application. In the fall semester, students deepen their conceptual and technical knowledge through Architectural Theory and Advanced Design Studio I or Thesis I, depending on their chosen track. Electives from the College of Architecture and Design (CoAD) allow students to explore specialized areas and tailor their learning to specific interests.In the spring semester, the curriculum continues with Advanced Design Studio II or Thesis II, along with Professional Practice, which prepares students for real-world architectural work, including project management, ethics, and industry standards. Additional electives provide further opportunities for specialization and interdisciplinary learning. The program concludes with a summer semester that includes courses like Ecological Issues, emphasizing sustainability and environmental responsibility in architecture, along with another elective to broaden expertise. Overall, the curriculum combines design studios, theoretical studies, research, and professional training, ensuring that students develop the creative, technical, and practical skills needed for architectural practice. The option to pursue a thesis track also allows students to engage in in-depth research and design exploration, making the program highly adaptable to individual career goals.
