COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Product Design curriculum is a structured four-year program that develops students’ creative, technical, and problem-solving skills through a balance of design theory and hands-on practice. In the first year, students build a strong foundation with courses such as Introduction to Design, Design Principles, and Drawing and Design Geometry, along with mathematics and composition. In the spring semester, they begin working with practical tools and processes through courses like Introduction to Modeling, Materials and Manufacturing Processes, Basic Prototyping, and Design Methodologies, which introduce the fundamentals of creating and developing product ideas.In the second year, the program focuses on advancing design skills and understanding user-centered approaches. Students study subjects such as Surfacing for Product Design, Human Factors and Ergonomics, and Foundations of Product Design, along with hands-on courses like Casting and Construction. They also explore Industrial Design History and Rapid Modeling while completing a portfolio review to assess their progress. The third year emphasizes specialization and real-world application, with courses like Modeling Immersion, Sustainable Systems, and Wearable Technology Design. Students also study User Interface and User Experience Design, Professional Practice, and Multidisciplinary Design, preparing them to work across different design fields and collaborate effectively.In the fourth year, the curriculum shifts toward leadership, advanced application, and professional preparation. Students take courses such as Design Leadership, Design for Impact, and Technical and Professional Communication, along with natural science electives to broaden their knowledge. The program culminates in a Senior Thesis project, where students apply everything they have learned to create a comprehensive design solution. Additional electives allow students to customize their learning based on their interests. Overall, the curriculum combines creativity, technology, and practical experience, preparing graduates for careers in product design, user experience, and related industries.
