COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Sciences (Applied Sciences) curriculum is designed to build a strong foundation in mathematics, computer science, and applied scientific concepts over four years. In the first year, students focus on core subjects such as College Composition, Foundations of Computer Science, Calculus I and II, and introductory Statistics, along with Natural Science electives and labs to develop basic scientific understanding. The second year advances this foundation with courses like Discrete Mathematics, Calculus III, Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra, alongside University Physics I and II with lab work, helping students connect mathematical theory with physical applications. Students also engage in electives and seminars that enhance analytical and communication skills. In the third year, the program becomes more specialized, introducing subjects such as Advanced Calculus, Probability and Statistics, Applied Statistical Methods, and Data Science, along with Mathematical Modelling and Partial Differential Equations. These courses emphasize real-world applications and problem-solving techniques, supported by electives that broaden interdisciplinary knowledge. The fourth year focuses on advanced topics and practical experience, including Numerical Analysis, specialized Mathematics electives, and Topics in Mathematical and Computational Sciences. A significant component of this year is the Senior Project, completed in two phases, which allows students to apply their accumulated knowledge to research or practical problems. Additional elements like the Mathematics Journal Club and various junior/senior electives further refine critical thinking, research, and professional communication skills. Overall, the curriculum is structured to gradually transition students from foundational concepts to advanced applications, preparing them for careers in science, technology, data analysis, or further academic research by combining theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience and interdisciplinary learning.
