COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering at Lawrence Technological University is designed to prepare students for careers that optimize processes, systems, and operations across industries. The program provides a balanced combination of mathematics, science, engineering principles, and humanities to build well-rounded problem-solvers. The first year focuses on foundational knowledge, including University Chemistry and Physics, their corresponding laboratories, Calculus 1 and 2, Engineering Graphics, Engineering Computer Applications, and College Composition. Students are also introduced to fundamentals of engineering design projects and engage in humanities courses to enhance critical thinking and communication skills. Each semester carries 16 credits, creating a strong foundation for subsequent studies.In the second year, students advance into University Physics 2 with its lab, Entrepreneurial Engineering Design Studio, Calculus 3, Industrial Manufacturing Processes, and Materials Laboratory. The spring semester introduces Industrial Engineering Finance, Statics, Differential Equations, Probability and Statistics, Linear Algebra, and electives in liberal arts and social sciences. This semester totals 21 credits, emphasizing both technical depth and professional development.The third year expands into specialized industrial engineering topics such as Production, Planning and Control, Statistical Methods for Process Improvement, Thermodynamics, Operations Research Techniques, Circuits and Electronics, Work Design and Measurement, Plant Layout, Supply Chain and Logistics, Applied Operations Research, and Engineering Numerical Methods. Leadership and Professional Development courses are included to strengthen managerial skills. These courses total 15–17 credits per semester, preparing students for advanced engineering challenges.In the fourth year, students focus on senior-level and technical coursework. The fall semester includes Senior Project Fundamentals, Occupational Ergonomics, Simulation in System Design, and technical electives, while the spring semester covers the Senior Capstone Project, additional technical electives, and a junior/senior humanities elective. Total credits for these semesters are 14 and 12, respectively. This curriculum equips students with the skills to analyze, design, and improve complex systems, preparing them for leadership roles in industries such as manufacturing, logistics, supply chain management, and operations. Courses are offered with flexibility, allowing onsite or Zoom attendance to accommodate diverse learning needs.
