COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Data Science at Lawrence Technological University is structured to provide a comprehensive foundation in computer science, mathematics, and statistics while progressively developing advanced data analysis and computational skills. In the first year, students begin with college composition, foundational computer science, introductory calculus, and humanities courses, establishing both technical and critical thinking skills. By the spring semester, courses in statistics and computer science, along with calculus and modern texts, further build the analytical foundation. The second year emphasizes core computing and mathematical skills with courses in discrete math, linear algebra, software engineering, data structures, and an introduction to data science, supplemented by coding club participation and professional communication skills. In the third year, students expand their expertise through applied statistical methods, database systems, advanced data science, artificial intelligence, and electives in science, social science, or psychology, along with coding club and lab experiences. The fourth year focuses on specialized and cutting-edge topics, including machine learning, deep learning, pattern recognition, and advanced computational methods, while students complete a two-part senior project and participate in coding club and elective courses. This curriculum integrates theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience, preparing students to analyze and interpret large, complex datasets, develop AI and machine learning solutions, and apply computational methods across business, science, and industry.
