COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering Technology and Management at Lawrence Technological University is structured to build both technical expertise and managerial skills for careers in construction. In the first year, students focus on foundational courses including college composition, precalculus, principles of management, and architectural graphics or visual communication, along with an introductory general elective, while the spring semester introduces technical communication, calculus, physics, surveying, and ancient texts. The second year emphasizes management, regulations, construction techniques, business law, and electrical concepts, alongside physics labs and electives. In the third year, students advance into specialized courses such as steel and wood structures, soils and foundations, electrical and mechanical systems, operations management, construction estimating, and leadership development, along with Six Sigma and economic analysis. The fourth year focuses on applied skills and project experience through courses in computer design graphics, engineering designs, construction safety, engineering materials, green building technology, construction contracts and legal aspects, construction engineering management, and a senior project, with options for electives or practicum work. The curriculum balances engineering, management, and hands-on project experience to ensure graduates are prepared to plan, direct, and oversee construction projects, combining technical knowledge with leadership and decision-making capabilities. The program emphasizes teamwork, communication, safety, sustainability, and practical application, giving students the tools to succeed in diverse construction management roles and prepare for leadership positions in the industry.
