COURSE CURRICULUM

The Associate of Arts in Media Arts and Production curriculum is designed to complement prior technical training and provide students with a well-rounded education in communication, media, and the arts. Students who have completed a Broadcast Media Arts (BMA) or Digital Media Arts (DMA) certificate from the Specs@LTU program receive 24 transfer credit hours, allowing them to focus on completing the remaining 37 credits at the university. The curriculum emphasizes strong communication skills through courses such as College Composition, Technical and Professional Communication, and Writing for Electronic and Print Media, which prepare students for creating content across various media platforms. In addition, students take Media Communication electives that allow them to explore specialized areas of interest within broadcasting and digital media.The program also includes humanities and social science courses, such as Engaging Ancient Texts and Engaging Modern Texts, along with SSC and LLT electives, which help develop critical thinking, cultural awareness, and analytical abilities. A unique component of the curriculum is Geometry in Art, which blends mathematical concepts with creative expression, enhancing students’ visual and design skills. Students are also required to complete a Natural Science elective, ensuring a basic understanding of scientific principles and broadening their academic perspective. Overall, the curriculum is structured to balance technical media knowledge with communication, creativity, and general education, preparing students for careers in media production, broadcasting, and digital content creation, or for further studies in related fields.
