COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Chemistry requires the completion of a minimum of thirty credit hours and is structured around advanced coursework, seminars, and a research-based thesis. The program begins with a required course in College Teaching of Chemistry, which helps students develop instructional and communication skills valuable for academic and professional settings.A major portion of the program consists of nineteen credit hours of chemistry electives, allowing students to specialize in areas such as analytical, inorganic, organic, physical chemistry, or biochemistry. This flexibility enables students to align their coursework with their research interests and career goals. In addition to these electives, students must complete seminar courses that enhance both knowledge and professional development. These include two credit hours of subject-specific seminars, such as analytical, biochemical, inorganic, organic, or physical chemistry, where students engage with current research topics and present findings.Students also complete two credit hours of seminars focused on recent developments or problem-solving in various chemistry fields. These courses emphasize critical thinking, application of knowledge, and staying updated with advancements in the discipline.The culminating requirement of the program is Thesis I, which accounts for six credit hours. In this component, students conduct original research under faculty supervision, applying experimental techniques and analytical methods to investigate scientific problems.
