COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Athletic Training program requires the completion of a minimum of sixty credit hours, combining extensive coursework, clinical practice, and a culminating capstone experience. The curriculum is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in healthcare knowledge, clinical skills, and professional ethics. Core courses include Ethical Leadership for Health Care and Cadaver Anatomy and Applied Assessment, which help students understand both the moral responsibilities and the anatomical foundations necessary for effective practice. Students also study injury diagnosis, orthopedic assessment, advanced clinical procedures, and contemporary issues in athletic training, ensuring they are well-prepared to handle a wide range of patient conditions.A significant portion of the program focuses on clinical practice, which is divided into multiple levels. These include prevention and wellness, advanced orthopedic and head and neck care, general medical practice, and advanced competencies. Through these structured clinical experiences, students gain hands-on training and develop practical skills in real-world healthcare environments. Additional courses such as physical rehabilitation, pathopharmacology, neurological concepts, and the use of physical agents in treatment further enhance students’ ability to provide comprehensive care. The program also incorporates administrative concepts, preparing students for leadership roles within healthcare settings.The culminating requirement is a Clinical Capstone in Athletic Training, where students integrate their knowledge and skills in a final comprehensive experience.
