COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Fashion Industry Studies program requires students to complete a combination of core courses, electives, and experiential learning opportunities designed to prepare them for leadership and innovation in the fashion sector. Core courses include Research Methods in the Fashion Industry, which develops students’ abilities to conduct rigorous, applied research; Fashion Systems Thinking, which provides tools to analyze and optimize complex fashion industry processes; and Global Consumer in the Fashion Industry, which examines consumer behavior and market dynamics on an international scale. Students also complete the Fashion Industry Practicum, a hands-on professional experience, and courses focused on Entrepreneurial Leadership and Sustainability and Circular Economy Strategies, which emphasize ethical, sustainable, and innovative practices in the industry.In addition to the core requirements, students choose 3 to 6 credit hours of major electives, allowing them to tailor their studies to individual interests. Electives include Historic Textiles, Fashion Industry Merchandise Management, Individual Investigation in the Fashion Industry, Sustainable Supply Chain and Life Cycle Assessment, Fiber and Textile Innovation, and Innovations in the Fashion Retail Industry. These courses provide specialized knowledge and skills to address current and emerging challenges in design, production, sustainability, and retail management.Students also select a non-fashion elective from a cognate area, further broadening their interdisciplinary expertise. This combination of rigorous core courses, flexible electives, and experiential learning ensures that graduates are equipped with critical thinking, analytical, and practical skills necessary for advanced professional roles in the global fashion industry. The program prepares students to address complex industry problems, apply sustainable and ethical solutions, and lead with creativity and strategic insight. Graduates emerge as versatile professionals capable of driving innovation, promoting responsible practices, and contributing to the advancement of the fashion industry across diverse contexts.
