COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Education in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling requires the completion of a minimum of sixty credit hours and provides comprehensive training in counseling, rehabilitation, and disability services. The program includes a strong foundation in core counseling areas such as Counseling Theories, Counseling Skills and Techniques, Multicultural Counseling, and Group Work. Students also gain expertise in diagnosis, assessment, psychopathology, and case conceptualization, which are essential for effective client evaluation and treatment planning. A course in life span development further helps students understand human growth and behavior across different stages of life.A major focus of the curriculum is on disability and rehabilitation. Specialized courses such as Medical Information for Clinical Rehabilitation Counselors, Psychosocial Impact of Disability, and Occupational Aspects of Disability prepare students to understand the physical, emotional, and vocational challenges faced by individuals with disabilities. Students also study ethics and research in clinical rehabilitation counseling, ensuring they are equipped with both professional standards and evidence-based practices.The program emphasizes practical experience through supervised training. Students complete practicum courses in both clinical mental health and rehabilitation counseling settings, where they begin working directly with clients. This is followed by a six-credit internship, which provides in-depth, real-world experience under professional supervision.
