COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology program requires a minimum of 67 credit hours and provides comprehensive training in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of communication disorders across the lifespan. The curriculum includes a wide range of core courses that cover both theoretical knowledge and clinical applications. Students study areas such as aural rehabilitation, aphasia, articulation and phonological disorders, fluency disorders, voice disorders, and motor speech disorders in both children and adults. Additional coursework focuses on language assessment and intervention in early childhood and school-age populations, autism spectrum disorders, pediatric medical issues, adult dysphagia, and acquired cognitive communication impairments. The program also emphasizes research skills through courses like critical analysis of research and explores modern tools through seminars on communication modalities and assistive technology.A major component of the program is its strong clinical training, which ensures students gain hands-on experience in real-world settings. Clinical requirements include multiple supervised experiences such as clinical practice in speech pathology and audiology, public school techniques in communication disorders, and student teaching in speech-language pathology and audiology. Students also complete a sequence of clinical practicums (I through IV), allowing them to progressively build their skills in assessment, diagnosis, and intervention under professional supervision. These experiences provide exposure to diverse populations and a variety of communication disorders, helping students develop confidence and professional competence.Overall, the program integrates rigorous academic coursework with extensive clinical training to prepare graduates for professional practice.
