COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Arts degree in Mathematics for Secondary School Teachers requires a total of 32 credit hours and combines coursework in mathematics education with advanced mathematics content. Core courses include Teaching Mathematics with Technology, Research in Mathematics Education, and a Seminar in Mathematics Education. Students also participate in a repeatable seminar in mathematics education to deepen their understanding of teaching practices and current research. In addition, students select 15 credit hours of mathematics electives from a range of courses such as Theory of Matrices, Analysis I, Graph Theory and Combinatorics, Advanced Calculus, Numerical Linear Algebra, Euclidean Geometry, Linear Geometry, Theory of Numbers, and advanced concepts in Geometry, Probability and Statistics, and Algebra. The program concludes with a capstone project that integrates mathematical knowledge and educational practice, allowing students to demonstrate their mastery of both content and pedagogy. This program is structured to strengthen teaching skills, enhance mathematical understanding, and prepare educators to improve secondary school mathematics instruction.
