COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Arts in Cultural Foundations requires the completion of a minimum of thirty credit hours and is structured to provide a strong foundation in education, research, and critical analysis of social and cultural issues. The program combines core coursework, electives, and a thesis to ensure both theoretical understanding and research capability.The major requirements include foundational courses such as Foundations of Education and Human Services, along with a course in human development or learning theories, allowing students to understand how individuals grow and learn in different contexts. In addition, a research course in educational services equips students with the skills needed to conduct academic research and analyze educational practices and policies.A significant portion of the program, fifteen credit hours, is dedicated to electives. These courses cover a wide range of topics, including philosophy of education, multicultural education, ethics, globalization, history of education, and social theories. This flexibility allows students to explore their specific interests and develop a deeper understanding of how education interacts with culture, society, and global issues. Students may also take additional electives with faculty approval to further customize their academic experience.The program concludes with a six-credit thesis, where students conduct independent research on a topic related to cultural foundations in education. This final project helps students apply their knowledge, develop advanced research skills, and contribute to discussions on educational theory and practice.
