COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology and Audiology requires foundational and advanced coursework in human communication and related sciences. Major requirements include introductory statistics or quantitative methods in psychology, basic learning processes, introduction to communication disorders, psycholinguistics, hearing and speech science, applied phonetics, anatomy and physiology of speech and hearing, speech and language acquisition, articulatory and phonological disorders, language disorders in children and adolescents, audiometry, aural rehabilitation, clinical preparation in audiology, neural processes, age-related changes in communication, clinical procedures in speech pathology, and clinical preparation in speech-language pathology.Additional courses outside the major include general and child psychology, a Kent Core biology course, and a chemistry or physics course, along with UC 10001 Flashes 101. Students also complete Kent Core requirements in composition, mathematics and critical reasoning, humanities and fine arts, social sciences, and additional electives, as well as general electives to meet the minimum total of 120 credit hours, including 39 upper-division credit hours.
