COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Mechatronics Engineering Technology program requires a total of 120 credit hours and is designed to provide students with strong practical and technical skills across multiple engineering disciplines. The major requirements begin with foundational courses such as introduction to engineering, laboratory work and computer-aided design, followed by skill-building courses like MATLAB programming and materials and processes. As students progress, they study advanced topics including programmable logic controllers (PLC I and II), hydraulics and pneumatics, control systems and digital design, which are essential for understanding automation and intelligent systems. Courses in statics and strength of materials help students understand mechanical behavior, while industrial robotics and its laboratory provide hands-on experience with automated machines.The program also emphasizes real-world applications through subjects such as quality techniques, sustainability, law and ethics for engineers and industrial safety. Advanced courses like mechatronics, systems engineering and computer-aided machine design prepare students to design and manage complex automated systems. A major highlight of the program is the capstone project, where students apply their knowledge to solve real engineering problems, often involving robotics or automation systems. Students also complete electrical circuits electives and a programming elective to strengthen their technical expertise, along with technical electives that allow some flexibility based on interests.In addition to major coursework, students must complete supporting requirements including communication, economics, physics with laboratory components and mathematics courses such as trigonometry and calculus. General education courses in composition, humanities and social sciences ensure overall development. A small number of general electives are also included to complete the 120 credit hour requirement. Overall, the program combines hands-on learning with theoretical knowledge, preparing graduates for careers in automation, robotics, manufacturing and other technology-driven industries.
