COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Integrated Health Studies requires students to complete a combination of major courses, concentration-specific courses, general education, and electives totaling a minimum of 120 credit hours, including 39 upper-division credits. Core major courses provide foundational knowledge in health and medical fields, covering medical terminology, careers in health sciences, research design, statistical methods, professional seminars, practicum experiences, healthcare policy, health care ethics, and quantitative methods in psychology. Students gain applied experience through practicum and seminar courses, which may require state or federal background checks.The program offers three concentrations, each tailored to specific career paths. The Health Care Administration and Systems concentration emphasizes business, management, and health care administration, including courses in accounting, information systems, economics, public relations, management, marketing, public administration, and health psychology. This concentration prepares students for administrative roles and graduate study in business, health administration, and public health.The Health Sciences concentration provides a strong foundation in basic and applied sciences, including biology, chemistry, anatomy and physiology, biomechanics, exercise physiology, nutrition, and physiology of exercise. Students also complete health science electives such as pathology, pharmacology, microbiology, human physiology, human genetics, and lifespan motor development, preparing them for science-based graduate programs such as physical or occupational therapy or physician assistant studies.The Health Services concentration focuses on health professions, human development, and human services, with courses in gerontology, human development across the lifespan, health education, community outreach, nursing, occupational therapy, and physical therapy. Electives in cultural diversity, nonprofit management, health coaching, clinical psychology, and sociology of health and health care prepare students for service-delivery roles in health organizations, public health, and community-based settings.Additional program requirements include Kent Core courses in composition, mathematics, humanities, sciences, and social sciences, along with general electives to meet credit hour requirements. The curriculum balances theoretical knowledge, applied science, and professional development, preparing graduates to serve diverse populations, assume leadership roles, and pursue advanced study in health, medical, or allied health professions.
