COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics program requires a rigorous and structured curriculum that builds strong analytical, computational, and problem-solving skills. Core coursework includes computer science fundamentals, multiple levels of calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, probability theory, and statistics. Students also study advanced topics such as mathematical modeling, numerical linear algebra, optimization, and dynamical systems, along with project-based and writing-intensive courses that develop practical and research abilities. Physics courses are also required, ensuring students gain a solid scientific foundation alongside their mathematical training.In addition to core requirements, students must complete allied area electives, allowing them to apply mathematics in fields such as computer science, economics, finance, physics, geography, and engineering. This flexibility enables students to tailor their education toward specific career interests like data science, finance, or technology. General education requirements, including foreign language study, humanities, and social sciences, ensure a well-rounded academic experience. A total of 120 credit hours is required for graduation.A key feature of the program is the choice of four concentrations: Applied Mathematics, Computational Mathematics, Financial Mathematics, and Probability and Statistics, each requiring 19 credit hours. The Applied Mathematics concentration focuses on advanced calculus, differential equations, and complex variables. The Computational Mathematics concentration emphasizes programming, data structures, optimization, and computational statistics. The Financial Mathematics concentration integrates accounting, finance, economics, and stochastic processes to prepare students for finance-related careers. The Probability and Statistics concentration focuses on data analysis, applied statistics, and stochastic modeling.
