COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Studies program requires students to complete a structured curriculum that builds a strong foundation in aviation principles, technical knowledge, and professional skills. The major includes core courses such as introduction to aeronautics, aviation management, aviation weather, and fundamentals of air traffic control, along with a laboratory component to provide practical exposure. As students progress, they study advanced topics like aircraft propulsion systems, aircraft systems, air transportation systems, flight dynamics, aviation safety, human factors, aviation law, and security policy, which together develop a deep understanding of how the aviation industry operates. A professional development course and a capstone experience or internship/co-op opportunity are also required, allowing students to apply their knowledge in real-world settings and prepare for industry careers.In addition to required courses, students must complete a significant number of aeronautics and upper-division electives, enabling them to specialize in areas of interest within aviation or engineering. A flight theory elective is also included, offering options that range from basic theoretical knowledge to private pilot training. Supporting coursework in mathematics and physics, such as algebra, trigonometry, and general physics with laboratory work, ensures students have the analytical and scientific background necessary for understanding aviation systems. Beyond the major, students fulfill general education requirements, including communication, composition, humanities, social sciences, and electives, contributing to a well-rounded academic experience. The program requires a minimum of 120 credit hours, including upper-division coursework, to graduate.
