COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology program features a comprehensive and application-focused curriculum designed to develop strong technical and practical skills in engineering. The major requirements begin with foundational courses such as introduction to engineering and engineering laboratories, where students gain basic knowledge of engineering principles and hands-on experience. Early coursework also includes computer-aided design (CAD), materials and processes and professional development, which help students build essential technical and workplace skills.As students advance, they study core engineering technology subjects such as applied thermodynamics, manufacturing technology, programmable logic controllers (PLC), hydraulics and pneumatics, statics and strength of materials and metallurgy. These courses provide a solid understanding of how mechanical systems function and how they are designed, analyzed and maintained. Students also learn about quality techniques, industrial safety, engineering law and ethics, ensuring they are prepared for real-world engineering environments.The program emphasizes modern manufacturing and design technologies through courses like computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) and computer-aided machine design. A capstone project allows students to apply their knowledge to solve real engineering problems, integrating skills learned throughout the program. Additionally, students complete electives in engineering, electrical circuits and programming, which enhance their expertise in areas such as electronics and computer-based problem-solving.Beyond the major, students take supporting courses in chemistry, physics, mathematics, communication, economics and technical writing, ensuring a well-rounded education.
