COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Integrative Studies requires students to complete a flexible curriculum totaling a minimum of 120 credit hours, including 39 upper-division credits. The program is designed to allow students to tailor their education according to their career goals through interdisciplinary learning. The only required major course is a senior project, which serves as a capstone experience where students integrate and apply knowledge from their chosen areas of study in a practical or research-based project.In addition to the major requirement, students must complete a range of general education courses under Kent Core. These include composition, mathematics and critical reasoning, humanities and fine arts, social sciences from at least two disciplines, and basic sciences with a laboratory component. Additional general education courses ensure students develop a well-rounded academic foundation. A significant portion of the program consists of general electives, which can range widely depending on the student’s chosen concentration and academic plan, providing maximum flexibility in course selection.Students must choose between two concentration options: Integrative Studies-General or Integrative Studies-Two Minors. The General concentration requires students to complete between 30 and 82 credit hours from at least two related academic programs, creating a cohesive and career-focused area of study. The Two Minors concentration allows students to complete two officially recognized minors or certificates from different academic departments, along with a clear rationale linking these areas to their professional goals.Overall, the program emphasizes customization, interdisciplinary learning, and career alignment. It is particularly suitable for students who want to combine multiple academic interests into a single degree or follow a non-traditional educational path. By integrating coursework across disciplines and completing a final senior project, graduates develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and practical skills that prepare them for a wide range of careers or further academic study.
