COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance requires a minimum of 120 credit hours, including major courses, electives, general education, and additional business-related requirements. Major courses, which count toward the major GPA, provide a comprehensive foundation in financial management, investments, banking, risk management, and international finance. Core finance courses include Principles of Financial Modeling, The Financial System, Intermediate Corporate Finance, Intermediate Investments, Advanced Financial Modeling, Applied Financial Management Strategies, and International Business Finance. These courses develop analytical skills, decision-making capabilities, and applied knowledge for careers in finance.Students must complete nine credit hours of Accounting or Finance electives, with options such as Intermediate Financial Accounting, Cost Accounting, Real Estate Finance, Financial Risk Management, Advanced Portfolio Analysis, Commercial Bank Management, Business Financial Distress and Bankruptcy, Advanced Derivative Securities, Advanced Fixed Income Management, Principles of Insurance, International Finance Experience, Individual Investigation in Finance, and Finance Internship. These electives allow students to tailor their education to specific financial interests and career paths.Additional requirements outside the major include foundational accounting courses, business analytics, supply chain management, exploring business, advanced professional development, information systems, human communication, principles of management and marketing, business finance, and the legal environment of business. Students also complete mathematics courses including algebra and calculus, along with the Kent Core requirements in composition, humanities and fine arts, social sciences, and basic sciences (including laboratory). General electives are included to ensure students meet the 120-credit-hour minimum and achieve at least 39 upper-division credit hours.This curriculum integrates financial theory, applied practice, and professional development, preparing graduates to pursue careers in corporate finance, banking, investment analysis, insurance, real estate, risk management, and other finance-related fields. Students are also well-prepared for graduate study or professional certifications in finance, offering both immediate career readiness and long-term growth opportunities.
