COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies program requires a comprehensive curriculum that combines design, history, theory, and technical knowledge to build a strong foundation in architecture. Core courses include global architectural history, 20th-century architecture, and a sequence of design studios that focus on principles of design, spatial understanding, systems, and networks. Students also study materials and processes, representation methods, structural systems, environmental design, and urban discourse, along with advanced courses in architectural theory and criticism. These courses help students develop both creative and analytical skills essential for architectural thinking and design.In addition to required courses, students must complete upper-division electives in architecture or interior design, allowing them to explore specialized topics and deepen their knowledge in areas of interest. The program also includes supporting coursework in art history and critical thinking, which enhances students’ understanding of design from cultural and philosophical perspectives. A foreign language requirement and general education courses in composition, mathematics, humanities, social sciences, and sciences ensure a well-rounded academic experience.A unique aspect of the program is the requirement to complete a minor or non-architecture electives, giving students the flexibility to explore other disciplines and broaden their educational background. The program requires a minimum of 121 credit hours for graduation.
