COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts in Applied Media program features a flexible and skills-focused curriculum designed to help students build expertise across various areas of media and communication. The major requirements begin with core elective courses, where students select subjects such as photography, human communication, social media strategies, creative coding, user experience design, and visual design thinking. These courses provide foundational knowledge in both creative and technical aspects of media. Students then complete additional Communication and Information electives from a wide range of disciplines, including communication studies, media and journalism, emerging media technology, and visual design, allowing them to customize their learning based on personal interests and career goals.A key component of the program is the writing-intensive elective, which strengthens students’ professional communication skills through courses focused on topics like media ethics, advertising copywriting, communication strategies, and project management. To complete the major, students must also fulfill a culminating requirement, such as a senior seminar or interdisciplinary project, where they apply their knowledge and skills in a practical, real-world context.In addition to major coursework, students must complete general education requirements, including composition, mathematics, humanities, social sciences, and basic sciences, as well as a significant number of general electives. The program requires a total of 120 credit hours for graduation. Overall, the curriculum emphasizes flexibility, practical experience, and interdisciplinary learning, preparing students for diverse careers in media, communication, and related industries.
