COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Biology at Jessup University includes two concentrations—General Biology and Human Health—designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of biological sciences grounded in a Christian worldview. The program begins with foundational courses such as Principles of Biology I with Lab, Physics for Life Science I with Lab, Statistics, and Origins: Intersection of Faith and Science. These courses not only cover core scientific principles but also integrate faith-based perspectives on science and creation. Students then progress through the core curriculum, which includes Principles of Biology II, Genetics, and Biology Senior Seminar, along with Calculus I. Depending on their focus, students take either a sequence of introductory chemistry courses or the more intensive General Chemistry I and II, which are required for the Human Health concentration.The General Biology concentration includes Earth and Environmental Science with Lab, General Ecology with Lab, and an introduction to Geographic Information Systems, along with upper-division electives in biology or environmental science, at least one of which must include a lab component. This track prepares students for careers in ecology, environmental research, or graduate study in biology. The Human Health concentration focuses on human biology and includes courses in nutrition, anatomy, physiology, metabolism, and biopsychology. Students also complete upper-division electives, which may include internships, providing valuable practical experience. This concentration is ideal for students pursuing careers in healthcare, allied health, or graduate programs in medical or health sciences. Both pathways provide rigorous scientific training within a supportive, faith-based academic environment, ensuring students graduate with the skills, knowledge, and ethical grounding necessary for success in the life sciences.
