COURSE CURRICULUM

The Jessup University Bachelor of Arts in Theatre program offers a comprehensive curriculum that prepares students for diverse careers in the performing arts through academic, artistic, and professional development. The program includes core courses and specialized training across four key areas of concentration: Acting, Theatre Design and Technology, Theatre Management, and Musical Theatre. Foundational courses such as theatre history, acting fundamentals, technical theatre, text analysis, and creative Christian practice help students build a solid understanding of theatre as both an art form and a professional field. The core curriculum also includes professional preparation and practicum experiences, offering hands-on learning in production, performance, or management.Students choose a specialization that aligns with their career goals. The Acting specialization focuses on advanced training in movement, realism, Shakespearean performance, screen acting, and stage directing. The Theatre Design and Technology specialization emphasizes behind-the-scenes skills such as lighting, set, and costume design, along with stage management and directing. Theatre Management students take business-focused courses, including marketing, nonprofit leadership, business law, and project management, to prepare for leadership roles in the arts industry. The Musical Theatre specialization provides intensive training in acting, vocal performance, and various dance styles, including ballet, jazz, tap, and musical theatre dance.
