COURSE CURRICULUM

Jessup University's Political Science program offers a robust curriculum that equips students with the theoretical, ethical, and practical foundations needed for careers in public service, policy-making, and law, as well as for graduate study. The program begins with 15 units of major courses that cover essential disciplines such as macroeconomics, microeconomics, American history, philosophy, and communication, ensuring a well-rounded liberal arts foundation. Students then complete 42 units of core political science courses covering key topics such as American government, political theory, political processes, ethics in public policy, state and local government, political economy, constitutional law, foreign policy, international relations, and human rights. A senior seminar and internship component provide hands-on leadership and real-world policy experience.Students are also required to choose from one of five concentrations—General, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Government and Politics, or Pre-Law—each offering a focused path of study. The Criminal Justice concentration includes courses like criminology, forensics, and procedural justice. The Government and Politics concentration explores topics such as the American presidency, legislative process, comparative politics, and global diplomacy. The Pre-Law track includes courses in business law, criminal law, administrative law, and the First Amendment. Students in the General concentration may select any nine units from the various elective options across concentrations. This flexible yet comprehensive program prepares students for diverse careers in government, law, criminal justice, and public administration by equipping them with critical thinking, research, leadership, and ethical decision-making skills.
