COURSE CURRICULUM

The Digital Humanities major at Jessup University offers a dynamic and interdisciplinary curriculum designed to prepare students for the complexities of the modern world. The core program consists of 27 units that integrate foundational humanities studies with practical technological skills. Courses such as Introduction to Digital Humanities, Writing with AI, and History of Technology provide students with a grounding in digital tools and methodologies. Writing for the Media, Perfect Sentence, and Psychology of Storytelling enhance students' communication abilities, while courses like History of Ideas and their Consequences develop critical thinking. A practicum or internship (DHUM475) offers real-world experience, and the Capstone course (DHUM498) allows students to demonstrate their cumulative knowledge through a final project.Students select one of three concentrations to tailor their studies. The Creative Writing concentration includes courses such as Creative Writing, Writing the Novel, and advanced electives, helping students refine their writing craft across various genres. The Humanities concentration features upper-division electives in English, History, and Political Science, offering a broad liberal arts focus. The History concentration includes focused coursework in American, Ancient, and Religious history, as well as specialized topics like California History and Twentieth Century events. Altogether, the major includes 39 total units and offers a unique blend of storytelling, digital literacy, and historical insight that equips graduates for careers in education, communication, public policy, or digital content development.
