COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree program requires students to complete 67 semester credit hours of core courses, covering a wide range of foundational and advanced topics. Students begin with essential courses such as microcomputer organization, computer architecture, and operating systems, then move on to networking, Linux system administration, and enterprise network engineering. Programming skills are developed through courses in Python and C++, along with object-oriented design, software engineering, mobile application development, and algorithm design. The program also explores specialized areas including artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics, cybersecurity, virtualization, human-computer interaction, and cloud computing. Students gain practical knowledge in information systems management and project management, ensuring they understand the technical and strategic aspects of IT. In addition, database management systems and foundational programming prepare students for data-driven roles. Capstone projects or internships allow students to apply their learning in real-world or industry-related scenarios, enhancing both technical and problem-solving skills. The program includes 12 semester credit hours of open electives, and eligible students may take up to 12 credit hours of approved graduate coursework through a dual credit option. Two professional development courses support students in preparing for career success, covering topics such as goal setting, resume writing, financial literacy, and job search strategies. This comprehensive curriculum is designed to build a broad and adaptable skill set, equipping graduates to enter various areas of the computer science field with confidence and competence.
