COURSE CURRICULUM

Project Management with a Healthcare Informatics concentration is designed to prepare students to lead technology-driven projects in the healthcare sector, ensuring improved patient care, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance. In the first year, the fall semester begins with Principles of Project Management and Introduction to Large Language Models in Project Management, providing foundational project management skills and exposure to emerging technological applications. The spring semester builds on this foundation with Organizational Leadership and Planning and Executing Projects, equipping students to lead teams, develop comprehensive project plans, and ensure successful implementation of healthcare initiatives. During the summer, students complete Risk, Procurement, and Contracts alongside Agile Project Management with Scrum Methodology, emphasizing iterative project execution, effective risk management, and contract oversight, which are essential in complex healthcare environments. In the second year, the fall semester introduces Healthcare Systems alongside Research Methodology and Writing or Applied Project Management I, enabling students to integrate healthcare-specific knowledge with applied project skills. The spring semester focuses on Healthcare Informatics and Healthcare Data, providing practical experience in health IT systems, data analytics, and decision support tools. The program concludes in the summer with Introduction to Modeling, Optimization and Decision Making and a Graduate Thesis or Applied Project Management II, allowing students to apply project management principles to real-world healthcare informatics projects. Graduates are prepared to lead multidisciplinary teams, optimize health IT initiatives, and deliver efficient, compliant, and data-driven solutions in healthcare organizations.
