COURSE CURRICULUM

Master of Science in Nursing with a Clinical Nurse Leader concentration is structured to provide a comprehensive blend of foundational knowledge, advanced clinical skills, and leadership preparation. In the first year, students begin in the fall with Foundational Concepts for Master Prepared Nurses and Healthcare Policy, establishing a strong understanding of professional nursing principles and the healthcare system. The spring semester focuses on Healthcare Informatics and Quality and Safety, equipping students with the skills to utilize data for patient care improvement and to implement safety and quality initiatives. During the summer, students complete Advanced Research Methods and Evidence-Based Practices alongside Advanced Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, and Health Assessment, deepening their clinical knowledge and research competency. In the second year, the fall semester includes Foundations for the Clinical Nurse Leader I and Epidemiology in Action, emphasizing leadership in care coordination and population health monitoring. The spring semester combines Foundations for Clinical Nurse Leader II with Nursing Practicum I, providing hands-on experience in clinical leadership roles. The program culminates in the summer with Clinical Nurse Leader Evaluation of Health Outcomes and Nursing Practicum II, allowing students to apply advanced knowledge in evaluating patient and organizational outcomes. This sequence prepares graduates to assume leadership roles in clinical practice, quality improvement, and evidence-based healthcare delivery.
