COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Analytics program requires completion of 36 semester hours and is structured to provide a strong foundation in analytics, hands-on experience, and specialized knowledge in Healthcare Informatics. Students complete 15 semester hours of core analytics courses that introduce fundamental principles and applications of analytics, exploratory data analysis, data visualization, and ethical considerations in data-driven decision-making. These courses build essential analytical thinking, technical proficiency, and responsible data use skills. In addition to the core, students complete 6 semester hours of experiential learning through research methodology and writing, followed by either an applied analytics project or a graduate thesis, allowing students to apply analytical concepts to real-world or research-focused problems. The Healthcare Informatics concentration comprises 15 semester hours and focuses on the application of analytics within healthcare environments. Required courses cover foundational healthcare informatics concepts, essential informatics skills, advanced informatics competencies, and healthcare data management and analysis. An elective course allows students to tailor the program to their specific interests within healthcare analytics. Collectively, the curriculum is designed to balance theory and practice, preparing graduates to analyze healthcare data effectively, support evidence-based decision-making, and contribute to data-driven improvements in healthcare systems.
