COURSE CURRICULUM

The Applied Exercise Science undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree at Gannon University, offered through the Morosky College of Health Professions and Sciences, focuses on developing strong scientific, practical, and analytical skills in students who want to work in health, fitness, and sports science fields. The program aims to ensure that students gain comprehensive knowledge of human anatomy and the physics of movement, including a clear understanding of the structural anatomy of the human body. Students learn how to identify and assess anatomical landmarks that are commonly injured in athletic settings, which is important for injury prevention and rehabilitation.Students also develop the ability to evaluate overall health status and conduct fitness testing. Based on the results of these assessments, they learn how to design, implement, and manage effective exercise programs tailored to individual needs. The program teaches the physiological foundations of exercise so students understand how the body responds to physical activity. In addition, students study the principles of nutrition and learn how diet and exercise together influence body composition, weight control, and overall health.The curriculum encourages students to recognize and analyze important issues in sport and exercise science. They learn to develop potential solutions while considering factors such as gender differences, physical adaptations, and cultural influences that may affect health and performance.
