COURSE CURRICULUM

The Student Learning Outcomes for the Journalism Communications program at Gannon University focus on developing strong research, communication, and media production skills that prepare students for professional careers in journalism, media, and digital storytelling. Students learn to conduct thorough research and produce extended analytical papers, demonstrating the ability to critically evaluate information and communicate complex ideas clearly. They also develop skills in business and professional communication, including researching, writing, and delivering sustained presentations using appropriate rhetorical strategies and modern technology.The program emphasizes both interpersonal and professional skills, preparing students to engage effectively in scholarly and productive discussions. Students gain hands-on experience in theatre and digital media, learning to design, organize, rehearse, and perform dramatic or non-dramatic script material. They also participate in all stages of media production—pre-production, production, and post-production—while learning to critically evaluate the historical context of media and theatre.Collaboration, adaptability, and resilience are key outcomes of the program. Students learn to work effectively with faculty, peers, and technology to produce high-quality theatrical and digital projects. They also understand the broader context of their work, recognizing how journalism and media arts connect with the mission of Gannon University.
