COURSE CURRICULUM

The Management Information Systems degree plan is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in business, technology, and information systems management through a combination of prerequisite courses, required core subjects, and elective options. The program begins with 12 credits of prerequisite coursework that introduces students to essential business and technical concepts. These courses include Financial Accounting: End User Applications, Economic Analysis, Marketing Principles, Introduction to Computer Science, and Introduction to Computer Programming. Together, these subjects help students develop a broad understanding of business operations, analytical thinking, and programming fundamentals necessary for advanced study in information systems. The required portion of the program consists of 18 credits focused on specialized topics in management information systems and technology integration. Students study Computer Architecture to understand computer system design and functionality, Database Systems to learn data organization and management, and Management Information Systems to explore the role of technology in organizational decision-making. Additional required courses include E-Commerce, which examines online business operations and digital transactions, Development of MIS 1: Project Management and Systems Analysis, which teaches students how to plan and manage information system projects effectively, and Information Systems for Competitive Advantage, which focuses on using technology strategically to improve organizational performance and maintain market competitiveness. The program also includes 12 credits of electives, allowing students to customize their studies according to personal interests and career goals with guidance from an academic advisor. Students may additionally earn up to 3 internship or work experience credits if they have been enrolled in the program for at least nine months, providing valuable practical experience and professional exposure.
