COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) curriculum combines general education, nursing science, healthcare training, and clinical preparation to develop professional nurses who are qualified to provide patient-centered care across diverse healthcare settings and populations. The program includes 43 credits of general education courses and 68 credits of nursing major requirements, along with elective coursework. Students complete foundational studies in communication, ethics, healthcare information systems, sociology, humanities, mathematics, sciences, and global perspectives. Core science courses include Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Microbiology for Health Sciences, and Chemistry for Health Sciences, all with laboratory components that strengthen scientific understanding and clinical reasoning. The nursing curriculum progresses from introductory nursing foundations and comprehensive health assessment to advanced nursing management courses focused on adults, psychosocial care, women and newborns, children and families, and complex healthcare needs. Students also study pharmacotherapeutics, pathophysiology, healthcare research, bioethics, social determinants of health, nutrition, and healthcare technology applications. Clinical learning experiences are integrated throughout the program, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge in practical healthcare settings while developing patient care, leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills. The program emphasizes synchronous participation in nursing courses and provides recorded access to lectures when possible to support learning and academic success. Students must successfully complete key prerequisite science and mathematics courses to progress through the nursing curriculum. In addition to the traditional four-year academic pathway, high-achieving students may apply for an accelerated three-year BSN pathway after completing their first semester successfully and meeting academic and financial requirements. The accelerated option condenses coursework into year-round study, including summer sessions, enabling students to complete the degree more quickly while maintaining the same rigorous educational standards. Graduates of the program are prepared to take the NCLEX-RN licensing examination and pursue careers in hospitals, community health agencies, clinics, long-term care facilities, and specialized healthcare environments. Overall, the BSN curriculum provides a comprehensive blend of scientific education, professional nursing preparation, clinical practice, ethical understanding, and interdisciplinary healthcare training that prepares graduates for successful and compassionate nursing careers.
