COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology is a 120-credit program designed to provide students with strong technical, analytical, and practical engineering skills for careers in mechanical and manufacturing industries. The curriculum combines mathematics, physics, chemistry, engineering technology, communication, management, and hands-on technical training to prepare students for the design, operation, manufacturing, testing, and maintenance of mechanical systems and industrial equipment. Students begin with foundational studies in engineering graphics, precalculus, calculus, physics, chemistry, and technical communication while also developing university-level writing and professional skills. As the program progresses, students study specialized engineering technology subjects including circuits, statics, strength of materials, fluid mechanics, applied thermodynamics, dynamics, electronics, manufacturing processes, industrial automation, materials technology, mechanical measurements, and control systems technology. The curriculum emphasizes practical application and industry-oriented learning through laboratory work, design projects, technical problem-solving, and engineering management studies. Advanced coursework in project management, engineering economics, process control systems, and mechanical technology design prepares students for leadership and supervisory responsibilities in technical environments. Students also complete a senior design project that integrates engineering knowledge and practical skills to solve real-world mechanical engineering technology problems. The program includes general education courses such as cross-cultural perspectives and global issues to strengthen communication abilities, teamwork, and global awareness. Students are required to complete technical electives that allow specialization in areas such as manufacturing systems, HVAC systems, refrigeration controls, instrumentation, digital systems design, optical technology, stress and vibration analysis, and project management. Opportunities for cooperative education or work experience may also be applied toward technical electives, giving students valuable industry exposure and practical experience before graduation.
