COURSE CURRICULUM

The Civil Engineering program requires the successful completion of 121 credits with a minimum cumulative grade point ratio of 2.00 and provides students with comprehensive training in engineering principles, mathematics, science, design, and infrastructure development. During the first year, students build foundational knowledge through courses in engineering practices, graphics and design, calculus, university physics, composition, and introductory university life and professional development courses. In the second year, the curriculum advances into surveying, construction materials and systems, general chemistry, statics, differential equations, programming languages in engineering, technical communication, strength of materials, dynamics, and linear algebra. These courses strengthen analytical, computational, and technical problem-solving skills required for advanced engineering studies. During the third year, students focus on specialized civil engineering topics such as structural analysis, soil mechanics, fluid mechanics, concrete structures, foundations, transportation engineering, bridge engineering, steel structures, and engineering statistics and reliability. The curriculum emphasizes practical applications, engineering analysis, structural design, and infrastructure planning. In the final year, students complete courses in engineering economics, environmental engineering, environmental and land use planning, global issues, modern technologies, and a senior design project that integrates the knowledge and skills gained throughout the program into real-world engineering solutions. Students are also required to complete technical electives that allow them to specialize in areas such as advanced steel and concrete design, project management, contracts and specifications, surveying, engineering materials, HVAC systems, stress and vibration analysis, and FE/EIT exam preparation. In addition, students complete science electives in biology, environmental science, geology, or related scientific disciplines to strengthen their environmental and scientific understanding. The program combines theoretical instruction, laboratory experience, engineering design, communication skills, and project-based learning to prepare graduates for careers in structural engineering, transportation engineering, environmental engineering, construction management, infrastructure development, and related professional fields. Overall, the curriculum equips students with the technical expertise, analytical abilities, and practical engineering experience needed for successful professional practice and future career growth in civil engineering.
